Schriock said “Kathleen Clyde has been a strong advocate for and defender of voters and voting rights throughout her career”
COLUMBUS, OH – Today EMILY’s List, the nation’s leading organization for electing pro-choice Democratic women, endorsed State Representative Kathleen Clyde (D-Kent) in her campaign for Ohio Secretary of State.
Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY’s List, released the following statement:
“Kathleen Clyde has been a strong advocate for and defender of voters and voting rights throughout her career. In the statehouse, she authored legislation to create automatic voter registration and has pushed to restore early voting days for Ohioans. Kathleen has consistently shown that she believes in the values of fairness and democracy by sticking up for working families, defending union workers, protecting small businesses, and championing equal pay. We have no doubt that Kathleen Clyde will use her experience to protect and empower voters, which is why EMILY’s List is so proud to endorse her.”
“I’m thrilled to know that EMILY’s List is standing with us in our fight to ensure that every Ohioan’s voice is heard and every Ohioan’s vote is counted,” said Rep. Kathleen Clyde. “When I first decided to run in 2010 for State Representative, EMILY’s List was there with me every step of the way — which led me to become the youngest elected woman in the Ohio Statehouse. Together, we’re going to win in 2018.”
Rep. Kathleen Clyde announced her candidacy for Ohio Secretary of State in May 2017. Throughout her career she has been a strong advocate for redistricting reform and voting rights. She has also fought against attacks on working families, like Senate Bill 5 and education laws that shortchange Ohio’s kids. She currently represents the 75th Ohio House district in Portage County.
